Church and music

No, this isn’t another rant about church music and issues of ‘worship’, emotion and whatever in church.
It’s just a chance to say how much I appreciated the music at church tonight.
Apart from the regular very good music, no less than twelve of the regular (and not so regular) Sunday night musos formed a group to perform “Days of Elijah” as an item, to teach it for next week.
That’s like a sixth of the total congregation!
So we had keyboard, tenor sax, alto sax, trombone, flute, clarinet, guitar, bass, drums and three vocalists. The arrangement was great, and t he overall result was very impressive, encouraging inspiring, and focussed on the Bible. Which is what music in church should be.
Excellent job people.

  1. That sounds great.

We had the Technical Evening from (a not very nice place) at MacAng (www.macquarieanglican.org) at 5pm yesterday. PC wouldn’t work to drive the projector, so had a last minute change. Lectern mic cabl was broken, so had a last minute change. Data projector slid onto the floor with a thud during the service (fortunately floor is carpeted and projector survived). Both foldback speakers now have broken input sockets (which I can and will fix). Only redeemed by yet another fabbo sermon on Romans: the book that rocked the world.

  3. There are so many songs I love. One is called “Here I am too Worship”

    King of Old days
    Oh so highly exalted
    Glorious in heaven above
Humbly you came to the earth you created
All for love’s sake became poor

So here I am too worship
Here I am to bow down
Here I am so say that you’re my God
    You’re altogether lovely
    Altogether worthy
    Altogether wonderful to me

I’ll never know how much it cost
To see my sins upon that Cross

I’ll never know how much it cost
To see my sins upon that Cross

So here I am too worship
Here I am to bow down
Here I am so say that you’re my God
    You’re altogether lovely
    Altogether worthy
    Altogether wonderful to me

When I hear this song…OOOH! It is such a blessing. I just love Praise and Worship

  5. Oh wow God is truly awesome. I don’t actually know what is going on in my life or where it is going. But today I feel okay about it. Some amazing things have happened in my heart concerning my relationship to my creator and my acknowledgement of how vast he is. I am learning to live life for today and not worry about tomorrow. You know with my constant ramblings this is different but now I am just living today.

God is so powerful and his word is ever living. I was thinking about how wonderful and praised filled church was yesterday. My heart is still overflowing and I am just glad to know Jesus.
