Godcasting on steroids
Regulars here will know that I post virtually every Bible Talk from our Sunday Night Church, in a pretty primitive version of Christian podcasting (Godcasting).
Those MP3 files have no introduction, no fancy music, no explanation at the end, and half the time I forget to record the Bible Reading!
So reading this article has put me to shame somewhat, and has inspired me to re-think how we can do our humble attempt at Godcasting a bit better in 2006. Especially given the iminent launch of our new church website.
Problem is (as always), to find the time and energy to make any additions to the current basic approach.
If you are a regular listener to our podcasts, feel free to leave a comment about what ‘features’ you would like to hear on TAC podcasts, or which you don’tcare about.

Personally I just download the sermons because I use them to listen to over and over again until I actually learn what was taught. My only requirement is that they are cut well and good enough quality to want to listen enough times to let it sink in.

Johnny Leckie seems to have a few more ideas that I did, but I agree there is huge potential. And to me, the point is to “extend Sunday” – increase the influence/community of what we do on Sunday further into the week.
Maybe we could first consider the use of the new Blog, then comments on the Bible Talks before turning it into a Podcast. I think initially, that written is going to be easier to achieve.
So, for example, prior to Sunday, the preacher might have some though provoking questions to put on the blog. Or, after Sunday, the preacher could start a discussion in the comments for the Bible talk. But maybe it shouldn’t be the preacher at all…

Sure, they are good ideas… as a regular preacher, sometimes the time issue makes it hard to work far enough ahead to do a lot leading up to the weekend, but afterwards could work.
Maybe this could also tie in with the SNC newsletter idea?
In the meantime though, I think we need to at least set up a standardised ‘header’ and ‘footer’ for each podcast – something that connects the talk with TAC.

Hi, thanks for linking to the podcasting ideas. That line, “Godcasting on steroids” completely cracked me up! :)
God bless you as you continue to creatively share the wonderful news of new life in Christ!
God bless,
Johnny Leckie
